Due to dry rot at St. Philips, the Parochial Church Council
decided for the safety of its congregation to close the church
and merge parishes with St. Luke's, The parish was then
called St. Luke with St. Philip Parish.
Many of the original fittings from St. Philips can be seen at St.
Luke's Church, in the Lady Chapel
St. Luke with St. Philips and St Mark's Witton became the
United Benefice of Christ the King in 2004, this was just the
start of joining the two churches, after feeling the benefits of
the co-operation the Parochial Church Council decided to
bring the two communities together as one parish. That being
the Parish of Christ the King in 2005.
